A Quilt Finish: Dragonfly Kisses

. . . and here it is, bound and labeled:

2016-8, Dragonfly Kisses

Dragonfly Kisses measures 50″ x 59″, a good size for a throw. The design is a variation of Chic Diamonds by Sew Kind of Wonderful. I believe this is the seventh or eighth quilt I have made using the Quick Curve Ruler, also made by SKW.

Here’s a close-up of the label, made with my favorite method using a compact disc for a pattern:

2016-8, Dragonfly Kisses label

See that dragonfly just to the left of the label? There’s one in the lower right corner, too. That fabric is one of six I used from the “Dance of the Dragonfly” fabric line, due in quilt shops this month. The fabric line was designed by Maria Kalinowski for Kanvas Studio in association with Benartex. (Something tells me I need more of this fabric, which comes in an equally beautiful plum/olive green colorway.)

WOW!!! Just so, so beautiful!!! I am inspired to do one too! I did the curvy sampler quilt (also by Sew Kind of Wonderful) that is at the longarmer’s now! I sure love the wow-factor of yours! So awesome!! Great job as usual!

    BEAUTIFUL !!

Beautiful quilt! I love that dragonfly fabric. I’ll have to look for the purple version. 🙂 Congrats on your finish! 🙂

This is beautiful, Dawn! I see that every comment before uses the same descriptor, but that’s just what comes to mind. I love seeing your projects unfold.

  6. Sandy says:

I love your quilt! Beautiful…as always!

I’ve always been fascinated with dragonfly. My father and I fished on Siltcoos (SP?) Lake near Florence, Oregon. In a row-boat. There were always beautiful turquoise, iridescent dragonflies hovering around the boat. Louis C. Tiffany did a dragonfly stained glass lamp which I saw in a NYC museum. They are very special.
Keeping this short, as Mr. Buddy is insistent upon laying across my left arm and hand……

Another treasure completed! It is so fun to visit you and make a trip to the quilt ladders in your den to select a lap quilt for movie night. Good thing there is more than one movie night per visit or the selection process would be agonizing. Why? Because I can NEVER decide which is my true favorite! You are a true artist, Nubs!

Absolutely gorgeous!! I got my fabric, purple colorway, yesterday. So excited was like Christmas morning. Now to pick your brain – which are your 3 batiks? Was your mint a batik? Diane is correct (you are a true artist) even if she is a little biased. Thanks for sharing this. At the moment this is my favorite but just a couple weeks ago it was the Wanderlust. Keep em coming.

Hi, Rebecca. Diane is only as impartial as a twin sister can be LOL! The three batiks are the two that read almost as solid aqua/turquoise and the aqua/turquoise with the dots. The pale mint background fabric is one of the Maywood Shadowplays. I really love these Maywood blenders; I think they are so much more interesting than solids. I will be very interested to see what you do with the purple colorway of Dance of the Dragonfly! Such gorgeous fabrics!!

Thank you Dawn! The fabric IS gorgeous and it may just lay there for me to admire for a long time before I can put a rotary cutter to it. LOL Most fabrics do in my house ;-D I live in the boonies so can’t wait to take it to a real quilt shop to try and pick up a few to coordinates. It is too difficult to try to match a color on a computer screen. Thanks again for sharing your work, it is so inspiring. Wish I could take the bag class this fall but a little far to travel from VA. LOL
