I’m finding plenty of inspiration for quilts. Here’s a small sample beginning with a photo taken while we were still in Spain.
An exterior window in the old Jewish quarter of Toledo . . .
A lovely motif, reminiscent of fleur de lis, at the Mateus Palace near Pinhăo, our second docking stop in Portugal:
Tile from the interior wall of a cafe in Lamego where we stopped after a museum visit for a glass of champagne (our Friday night tradition):
A cork-backed ceramic trivet from the Museu do Douro gift shop in Régua:
I’ll be on the lookout for more . . .

Good eye, Nubs! So many possibilities. Love love love the last photo. Is that a plate? Such a happy hue of green!!
It’s a cork-backed trivet, Diane. I’m keeping my eye open for one in Porto or Lisbon.
Wonderful images, Dawn!
I was in Portugal in the 70’s! I bet it has changed a bit!
Yes! Inspiring! Looks like a fun trip.
Amazing photos! Are you on a Viking River cruise by any chance? We have one booked for next spring – to see the blooming tulips!
Hi Debbie. We are on a Vantage cruise. Very similar to Viking. In fact, the Viking ship is docked right next to us. About 10 years ago we did the cruise to Holland during tulip time – it was wonderful!
